William, A Special Comox Valley Grad

Meet William - Grad 2022

William is the youngest person I have ever photographed. I was there documenting his birth (I promised him I wouldn’t share those photos in this post ;)) and since that time I have watched him grow up into an incredibly interesting, personable, driven, and thoughtful (almost) adult.

When my daughter was born some friends and I who met through a baby group started Dinner Group and began meeting once a month with our families. We started with five children and the group grew as families had more children We travelled through parenthood celebrations and struggles, sickness, marriage changes, career changes and more. One thing that never wavered was our adoration and the special place we have for each other’s children - like William.

William was one of the oldest of the Dinner Group crew and whenever I hosted I could always count on him to check in when he got here, say hello and see if any help was needed (and be a committed taste tester, especially when we were celebrating Hannukah.) He always had great stories and was the type of person who brought a group “up”. His entrepreneurial and independent streak has always resonated with me, and I am so thankful to be in his corner cheering him on.

Thank you William for this wonderful night, I was so thankful to capture you again and to have some time to be together chatting and laughing. BIG congratulations William!

What are you doing next year? I will be moving to Montreal and attending university at McGill and I plan to major in business and finance. I have always had an entrepreneurial side and I want to develop them and learn more about business and finance. I plan to run my own business one day.

What are you looking forward to? I am looking forward to living on my own, experiencing a new city and improving my french.

What is one of your best high school memories? Visiting Quebec at the start of high school, as that is probably what is drawing me back.

What has been special about growing up here? The nature, ocean, mountains and forest. I sail in the summer and snowboard in the winter. You get nature all year.

Who were the difference makers for you during high school? My family and my parents have been so supportive and my teachers have helped me form my path, especially Ms. Murcheson. She had a big influence on my path to pursuing business.

Three words to describe your hopes for your future? Excitement, fulfillment and adventure.
